Dhoop sticks are a type of incense used in many cultures and religions for various purposes such as religious ceremonies, meditation, and aromatherapy. Here’s a general process for making dhoop sticks:
Ingredients:
Charcoal powder
Wood powder (such as sandalwood, agarwood, or cedarwood)
Gum powder (such as jiggat or gond)
Water
Essential oils or fragrance oils (optional)
Tools:
A mixing bowl
A measuring cup
A spoon for mixing
Dhoop stick molds (available at craft stores or online)
Steps:
Measure out the ingredients in the following ratios:
3 parts wood powder
1 part charcoal powder
1 part gum powder
Mix the dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl.
Slowly add water to the mixture, stirring as you go, until the mixture forms a dough-like consistency. The amount of water needed will depend on the humidity in your area.
If desired, add a few drops of essential oils or fragrance oils to the mixture and stir well.
Fill the dhoop stick molds with the mixture, pressing down firmly to make sure there are no air pockets.
Leave the molds in a cool, dry place to dry for at least 24 hours, or until the sticks are completely dry and hard.
Once the sticks are dry, remove them from the molds and store them in an airtight container until ready to use.
Note: It’s important to use caution when working with charcoal powder, as it can be messy and potentially harmful if inhaled. Work in a well-ventilated area and wear a mask to protect your lungs.
